This mug is just amazing. It started with bare local Star White clay and a white liner glaze. Then it was fired for a week using a unique technique leading to all these orange, creamy, and crystally colors.
I created this mug specifically for this single firing, knowing that the ash would fall on each layer and create these gentle sweeps and color variations. You could use this mug every day for a month and notice something new about it.
Wood fired in Seagrove, NC. This process creates natural variations in each piece depending on where it was in the kiln and how ash and salt reached it during the firing.
